According to the characteristics of steel containment vessels (CVs) for AP1000 nuclear power plant, such as heavy weight, large diameter, high height, high precision requirement and easy deformation, we have independently developed a number of technologies, including welding process and parameters of new steel CVs (SA738-Gr.B), transportation and hoisting tooling systems, special guiding and adjusting devices, precision control technologies of large curved surface openings, and invented a number of special devices and tools. Many problems such as welding deformation control, hoisting deformation of 580 tons, positioning error of control bottom closure head, deformation of large curved surface openings and so on have been solved. We have successfully completed the CV assembly and installation tasks of the first AP1000 reactor, and the design requirements have been met. These technologies have been granted 31 patents (including 18 invention patents), 1 Chinese patent award, 7 provincial science and technology awards and 4 provincial normalized construction methods.
